The Wordsmith
by Tomás Tedesco
Welcome to the Archive
Here, I display finished projects, most of them published.
The rules are simple, if you click or tap on the image it will trigger the slide, or open a separate document with the texts.
I did my best to organize this in chronological order, the top being the newest and the bottom being the oldest.
"For you" is a mother's day online zine that I had the privilege to be part of alongside many other amazing artists. The first official thing I did since I graduated from UC Santa Cruz.
It also has a Spanish version. My dad and my friend Agustina helped me with my mutant Spanish, the price I pay to adapt to a new culture.
You
Rough. Refined.
Is my UC Santa Cruz Senior project. Some readers say it is a collection of poems centered around finding yourself through the other, and vice-versa. I trust them.
The cover is a collage I made before I started compiling poems and I used it as the thematic lighthouse for this book.
I'm immensely grateful to all my classmates, teachers, and life experiences who helped me get here. I self-published this book and it's available for purchase online. If you are interested in helping me get this manuscript to a bookstore, don't hesitate to contact me.
Stares Motherfuckerly
is an homage to all my classmates in my senior seminar. I showed it to our classmate Amanda. She got so excited and helped me design it and print it for all our classmates. She also helped me design You Rough Refined in InDesign. Writing and computing are two different skill sets and I'm grateful for her proficiency in both, and her desire to share.
Chinquapin is a dope, old school publication. Besides great art, they have nice swag.
You gotta respect the cow
And the Ant-eater with really nice overalls.
Fish Rap is the satirical news network from UCSC. I have deep respect for this hardworking crew.
Their absurd sense of humor jabs at the reality of the being a student in a business-based university. I co-wrote this with someone who reminded me of Post-Malone.

Here it is, the zoomed-in version.
Leviathan is the first faction I worked within UC Santa Cruz and the first one I ditched. I struggled feeling like I belonged there. I never went to editing day and they censored the word G-d. Watch this, God, God, God.
I didn't like that they censored me without having a conversation. The irony is that the poem is about the non-sense of words.
I also believe God is not God's real name. Words are post-signs that show you an idea but aren't the idea. F-ck you. Love you.
This is my first official publication besides the one news article that the editors butchered at Santa Barbara City College.

This is a 20-minute play I wrote in Ellen's class at Santa Barbara City College. This is when I learned I could use writing to make people feel things.
That semester, we did two or three cold reads followed by feedback. After my last presentation, I was waiting for everybody to give me feedback. Instead, there was a silent vacuum of people feeling and being with themselves. I get goosebumps from remembering that moment.
I know I have a long way to go before I can be as good as I can be. For now, let's thread forward, my friend.
